Small Taste of Great Things to Come!

World class guitarists Joe Mass and Larry Broido stopped by Range the other day to discuss an upcoming project (that we are all super exited about) with producer and studio owner Aaron Levinson. We picked up a handycam and documented Joe and Larry demoing one of the songs for Aaron. A small taste of great things to come! Enjoy!

Jose Conde

Tonight at World Cafe Live, those in attendance will be in for a truly memorable experience- a performance by Brooklyn-based recording artist Jose Conde. Jose’s draws upon influences including traditional Cuban music, Rhumba, old-school Funk, Rock, and World Beat to create music that feels organic and danceable while panoramic in scope.

Jose has a special connection to us here at Range. Studio owner Aaron Levinson produced Jose’s 2007 album (R)Evolucion. Do yourself a favor and give this album (as well as Jose’s other past, present, and future offerings) a listen.

Tip #27: “A Little Help From My Friends”

One of the most interesting developments that I’ve noticed coming from the Hip Hop universe is the amount of creative collaboration that takes place.  It has been pretty common for the past decade or so to have a number of guests on an album and indeed sometimes 2 or even 3 guests even on a single track.  Of course it could be strongly argued that this is no more than a commercial gambit to get as many buzz worthy names on your music for the sole purpose of selling that record at that moment.

More on this after the jump… Read More..
